First Friday dinners begin October 6!
If you are new to Christ Church, you may say “What is a First Friday dinner?” It is a tradition of several years that on the first Friday of most months there is a gathering of whomever is interested. We start with a social hour and conclude with a meal, cooked for you by a faithful team of “chefs”! (Well, at least we try our best.)
The meal is available for $7.50 for adults, $5 for youth and under 5 years old is free. A family cost of $25 is the limit. Those coming to the meal call in their reservation, as we need to know how much food to prepare, by the Wednesday of that week. (in this October’s meal, that would mean reserve a spot by Oct. 4th.) Call the church office (315-682-5795) or Rene/Ron Hebert (315-632-4388 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
On that Friday, arrive at 6 PM, bringing with you your preferred beverage and your own place setting. You may also bring any guests you would like, as well. It’s a nice, inexpensive way to take someone out! About 6:45 PM we will sit down for the meal. If you’d like to help in preparations or clean-up, YEAH!!! Just let us know.
On 10/6, I will be doing a meal in celebration of my trip this summer to England. The meal is typical of the meals we have:
Hunter’s Chicken, Roasted Cauliflower, British Mushy Peas, Green Salad, Caramel Butter Bars, and English Cream Scones with Clotted Cream (If I can master it!)
Pat B. is collecting shoes as a member of the Pompey Lions Club to send to WaterStep, a project to provide shoes for adults and children and clean water for people around the world. Please bring pairs of gently used shoes that are good for walking to Crosby Hall.
Pat is also collecting used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Pompey Lions Club. There is a collection bin in Crosby Hall. Thank you for your contributions.
